Bio
The son of a butcher, Martin learnt how to sharpen and look after knives at an early age. Although he did not follow in the family business he has worked with sharp instruments all his life, having recently retired from a career as a consultant surgeon in the UK. Interested in food and cooking he has been surprised at how many people do not recognise the importance of sharp knives and do not know how to sharpen them using the traditional methods – it has been this that has prompted the present video.
