Christopher Byer: Hi, my name is Christopher Byer. I am with Christopher's Salon & Massage. Today I am going to teach you how to highlight your hair.

First we're going to go over the differences between home highlighting and professional highlighting. Most of the highlighting kits you buy at the grocery store read something like this. They normally come with a applicator bottle with developer, the color itself that you mix in with the developer and they come with an applicator. You just kind of comb through. With your professional method, very similar, we have our developer, different strength though, we have our color, we have different types of colors, different shades and we can catch them next and we'll be mixing equal parts of the developer and color.

Another difference between the home method and the method I use is, I use tin foil and a brush to apply the highlights. So I think this method would be a little more uniform and you get more natural effects. So at home, you can also use the foil and just use our method using the product that's in the box, you don't have to use the applicator one. You can also go to your local beauty supply, here we have gents beauty supply and they have all the different colors basically, almost the same as what use, but a little different grade and they I'll be more than happy to help you choose the proper colors to achieve the highlights you want. So now I am going to show you the preparation and how to setup your table to start the highlighting process.
