Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak: The lunch break is a great opportunity to increase your physical activity and maybe even improve your fitness. You can use your lunch break for actual scheduled physical activity, taking that time that you would normally be eating lunch and actually going to a gym, taking a walk outside. Spending that time and regularly scheduling some physical activity, making a plan for it.
Then you could even eat lunch maybe when you come back, checking e-mails, do a little multitasking that way. You could also use your lunch break for unstructured physical activity, running some errands like going to the post office, picking up the dry cleaning, walking to and from those errands pretty briskly, you could also consider just taking 10 minutes and going a little bit further to a sandwich shop, a little bit further down the road. Then take a little bit longer route back to the office from there. So you can really use your lunch break to incorporate structured physical activity taking the time you normally at lunch, using that for physical activity or you could be really unstructured about it. Just running errands and breaking up 10 minute intervals, taking a little bit extra, taking the long way home.
