Host: Can I get enough physical activity on the weekend to last the rest of the week?

Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak: Because our weekends are often a little less scheduled than our weeks, it seems like the weekend will be a perfect time to do physical activity and it would be great if we could just leave it on the weekends. Most of us probably would not have enough time to work out as vigorously as we would need to during the weekend to sustain and continue our efforts for improved fitness and perhaps even weight loss over the long-term. The weight loss control registry is a group or a list of people that have lost weight, significant amount of weight, twenty pounds or more and have kept it off for a long period of time. These people have made really significant lifestyle changes that include physical activity at least six days a week. That might seem a little daunting to many of us but if we start out with the small steps such as 30 minutes a day broken up in ten minute intervals, then trying to find time to commit to physical activity for 30 minutes maybe at least four days a week and then maybe even consider some interval training with where we are working out harder and then less challenging, alternating periods, we work out really hard for a couple of minutes then we take a break, work out really hard for a couple of minutes, we walk a little, they are easier down the road.

These strategies can actually help us increase our fitness over time without taking our whole weekend or taking too much time out of our busy day.
