How do I eat healthy at a reception?
Host: How do I eat healthy at a reception? Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak: Eating healthy and drinking healthy at a cocktail reception or a networking reception can really be challenging, particularly if there is a large buffet of appetizers and really great goodies on hand and there is also an open bar. Couple of strategies here for drinking, you definitely want to consider maybe alternating cocktails with another non-core beverage like a diet soda or like some water.
If you still do not want to be drinking those extra calories in alcohol and that happens to be a part of this particular reception, yeah, you don't want to drive attention to that or have people wondering why you are not partaking in your usual few drinks, is consider something that might look like a mixed drink, but it actually doesn't have any alcohol and we are talking to diet, some kind of diet beverage or maybe even a juice spritzer, not low on the juice a little low on the spritzer part.

So a couple of ways to keep drinking in check and not getting a lot of extra calories.
In terms of that beautiful buffet of gorgeous goodies, consider picking a few items that you know you are going to enjoy, maybe it's that small, mini crab cake, a few shrimp and a couple of carrot sticks. But it doesn't go overboard and certainly you don't want to be caught standing next to the buffet the whole night and continually nibbling and grazing on those treats.
