Darren Parzow: Hi, I am Darren Parzow, Hall of Fame darts player and I am here teaching you how to play darts. Now I am going to teach you two of the games you are going to want to play that is 301 and 501. Both games obviously, you are going to have to involve a lot of mathematics. So that is where you are going to need your scoreboard and your marker. The scoring segments on the dart board are numbered 20, 1, 18 etcetera around the board. This is a double, the entire ring around the board scores double the segment. These two here are singles and the inner ring is the triple ring so anytime you hit that ring you are going to be scoring triple. So for example with the 20's you have 40 points 20, 60 points, these two are singles 20 points. The bullseye scores 25 for a single the outer color, the inner color 50 which is a double. 301 you are going to start the score at 301 points and you are going to subtract down to 0. Now the way you start is when you hit a double. The double being the outside ring of the board starts your scoring so you do not score until you hit that double ring. So once you hit a double you then want to try and bring the score down as quickly as possible. So for example, if you were to hit a double 18 which is 36 and two single 20s you would score 76 points subtracting that from 301 is 225 points, so you still need 225 points to finish the game. As you bring the score down you also need to finish on a double so if you have 40 points left you can't just hit two singles 20s to win you have to hit the double 20. So if you hit a single 20 leaving 20 you would then have to hit a double 10. The difference between 301 and 501 besides 200 points are you can start scoring immediately. You don't need to hit a double to get into the game. So you can start by shooting singles or triples to get into the game, but you do have to end on zero exactly just like 301 finishing on a double. That is how you play 301 and 501. Next I am going to be teaching you how to play the darts game of Cricket.
