Darren Parzow: Hi, I am Darren Parzow, Hall of Fame darts player and I am here teaching you how to play darts. Now I am going to go ahead and teach you how to do what we call counting. Counting you can use the board you can use to count in your head, it is really up to you, but what your goal is you want to count the number of darts it takes you to finish a game of 501 or 301. So especially this is great if you are alone, you can walk up there to play a game of 501 and you are going to want to score your darts.

So if you hit a 100 points triple, single, single on the 20 you are going to want to write up here 100 from 501 is 401 and then you hit 60 on your next turn you are going to want to do it just like you are playing an opponent. Then you went up and you hit a 180 which is the maximum score you can hit three triple 20s, 60, 60, 60, 180 points write up your 180 which is going to leave 161. Your next handful, you were lucky enough to take that 161 out. You triple 20 which is 60 makes it a 101, triple 17 which is 51 which leaves 50 and the double bullseye, you are finished on the double and it was the right amount so you are at zero. So you have finished 3, 6, 9, 12 darts, so you won that game in 12 darts. You are then going to want to play again, see if you can do it in less than 12 darts. See if you can average 12 darts you want to have a goal. When you are first starting out it is going to be a lot more than 12 darts with a perfect game being nine you are pretty close. So you are going to be having 20 some dart games, 30 some dart games, but you are going to want to constantly try and bring that average number down and that is going to be able to give you some kind of a scale on how you are doing in the game and you are improving. So once you start getting down into the 21, 18, 15, 17 dart games you know that you are really starting to bring that game down so that is how we do counting in darts to help your 501 and 301 game. Now the next game we are going to play called 'Around the world.

' It is just what it sounds like, you are going to go around the board and you are going to do it in numeric order. So you are going to start with the one and you can do a game of singles around the world, doubles around the world or triples around the world. So you are going to want to hit three darts in the one, three darts in the two, three darts in the three, the four, the five and so on. Then when you play doubles around the world, you are going to throw all three darts to the double one, all three darts at the double two, all three to double three and so on for the doubles. Obviously, the same thing with the triples when you are play that game it is all three like the one, the two, the three and so on.
