Ultimate Frisbee Overview

Reid Attaway: I am Reid Attaway of JMU's Madison Bumblers, Ultimate Frisbee team and this is how to play Ultimate Frisbee. In this segment, I will be going over exactly how to play the game of Frisbee. The object of Ultimate Frisbee is to catch the Frisbee in the Endzone, 15 times during the course of the game. The number of points that wins the game, however, varies, depending on the tournament and style of play. An Ultimate Frisbee field is a 70 yard field that is 40 yards across, that has 25 yard endzones on either end of it. There are basically two positions in Frisbee, if you are playing man-to-man offense, that being handlers, people who stay towards the front of the offense and deeps or receivers who catch the disc out in the field and make the cuts. A play begins in Ultimate Frisbee with two teams standing at opposing endzones, one team throwing off to the other team. The team must advance the disc up the field by throwing it and catching it, there is no running with the Frisbee. When a player catches the disc in Ultimate Frisbee, they have 10 seconds to get rid of the Frisbee, once they have a defense man guarding out. The defense man calls out this count loudly so that as many people as possible can hear it on the field. The thrower has until the T in the word 'Ten' to throw the disc away. To score the point or take the point, one team must catch the Frisbee in the other team's endzone. Next, I will be demonstrating the various throws that you will need to play Ultimate Frisbee. 1
