Stamps - Markers

Christina Crawford: I am Christina Crawford and right now Im going to show you how you can use markers for your stamped creations. Markers are a fabulous way to ink up stamps without having inkpads. The thing that youre looking for is a brush marker, not one of those fine tip markers that wont work. So, take a look at your markers and a lot of them are dual-sided markers. For these, you want to make sure that you store them flat. If they store up or down, the ink will just pool on one side. I love these Stampin Up markers; they are for me just wonderful.

What Im going to do is, ink up a stamp to show you, if you had an inkpad this cake on the platter would only be one color. But because youre going to use markers, your brush-tip markers, you can create multi-colors. So, the top the cake, Im taking the brush tip and Im coloring right on top of the stamp. For the bottom layer of the cake, Im using a different color and Im inking that up to -- and then for the platter Im going to use a totally different color, which is a nice turquoise color beautiful, nice and bright, for that birthday card, I am going to ink that up. Now, so if your phone ring and you have to walk away, dont think you need to ink this up again with the markers, all you have to do is huff on it, and now actually rewet you stamp and go ahead and stamp you have your image, which is a beautiful cake.

Of course, you can put candles on the cake, so Ill just demonstrate that again. Im going to take my marker. Again, you want to use the brush tip, just coloring the top and then do the stems. This is actually adding a little bit of two-step stamping on this which is fun to do with the markers and stamp and your candles are on top of the cake. This you cannot do with an inkpad. So, get some brush markers because they are a lot of fun, you can do so many different things with that. You can also take a stamp like, Happy Birthday, you can ink at the Happy and then huff it, and stamp it and all you have is Happy and then you can go ahead and take the Birthday and you want to clean that stamp first, you could use a wet paper towel or your stamp cleaner with that, just clean that up and then you can do Birthday right next to it. So, you have Happy Birthday instead of Happy Birthday being up and down. So, thats something else you can do with your markers, move your words around, reposition your words with those markers. If you have a bold stamp, like the one I just used, you can go ahead and get that inked up with one color, lets just take that yellow again and just put it all over that cake. Lets just take that turquoise and use it for the base the tempting turquoise, thats the name of the color, gorgeous and if you wanted to do a fun Christmas card and you wanted to do fruitcake, you can actually take your markers and you can start doing poke-a-dots on top of them with the markers. This will create a different design all over your cake. This is the candy fruit that comes in on those fruitcakes. I think that there are only two fruitcakes in the world and they just got passed around to each other, huff it, you really want to make sure you huff on that, it just rewets that ink and then stamp it and then you have a little fruitcake.

So, its a lot of fun to play with markers. If you have an image that looks like you need to color it in, you can color it in with markers, thats easy, but these are different things that you can do to make your markers help you become creative and have a lot of fun with your stamped cards or scrap book pages.
