Host: How can I encourage my child to feel safe at school?

Dr. Hayley Sherwood: It is important to empower your child to take action regarding school safety. Encourage your child to identify a trusted responsible adult at school. A teacher, an administrator, a school secretary or a counselor to talk to if he or she feels threatened. Express how important it is to let an adult know if they hear another child threatening violence towards himself or others. Help your child to develop problem solving, anger management and conflict resolution skills.
