Hi, I am Suzanne McCeney, and I am here at ScrapbooksPlus in Chantilly, Virginia, we are teaching you how to scrapbook today. Now I am going to show you how to choose your tools for scrapbooking. First of all, very important tool is a paper trimmer. This will help you trim and mat all your photos. There are two different kinds. This is a rotary trimmer, which has a rotary on it. This is a straight edge trimmer. What you do is you put your paper in here, and it has lines for markings on all your trimmers, so then you just trim it to the size that you need. Next, you need to choose a pen. Remember, we want archivally safe pigment ink. This particular pen has a fine and a medium point pin. Next were going to talk about adhesives. There are several different kinds of adhesives on the market. Remember, we want them archivally safe. This is a glue stick which a lot of beginners use, and it's just like the glue sticks we use when we were in school. Also, we have a tape runner. This is a nonpermanent tape runner, and we will stick this in each corner of our photograph to make it adhere. We dont want to go all the way around, because if we do we are wasting adhesive. If we make a mistake when we are matting a photo, this rubs off very easily and you can start over. Also, when you stick it to something, it's not permanent, so you can lift it off and readjust. The next one is a tape runner. This has little tiny squares that come out and you will put this in each corner of your photograph to adhere it to a page. Also, there is a glue pen for the finer things and smaller elements that you may use in your scrapbooking. This is also nonpermanent, and when it dries it becomes permanent. So, when it first come out its blue, and if you adhere something to it while its blue, it is permanent. If you wait till it dries to a clear and then you adhere something then it is nonpermanent. We also need a good pair of scissors. When you are choosing scissors you want to make sure that the smaller the pair of scissors, the more detailed cut that you can get. It's a good thing if you are gathering your tools for scrapbooking to save these pair of scissors just for scrapbooking, so it won't dull them. Also, you may adhere photographs with corners. We suggest that you do this with the older photographs. If you have photographs that are 20 year or older, we would suggest that you use these corners to adhere a picture, it just goes on each corner and then you adhere it to your page. Next we will teach you how to choose your paper for scrapbooking.
