Amy O'Neill Houck: Hello, I am Amy O'Neill Houck and I am the owner of AOH Designs, a crochet and knitwear design company and I am here at 'A Tangled Skein' a yarn store in Hyattsville, Maryland. Today, we are going to be looking at some of my favorite crochet techniques in crochet beyond the basics. We are going to be learning how to make a Chainless Foundation, how to create linked stitches, how to crochet ribbing, how to crochet in the round and how to crochet crossed stitches and V stitches.

To learn these techniques all you need are yarn and a hook. While you are practicing crocheting I recommend using a smooth worsted weight light colored yarn and the matching hook probably, a five millimeter of USH crochet hook.

Before we get started, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I learned to crochet from my grandmother when I was about eight years old. In 2002, I began designing professionally and my designs have been published in 'Interweave Crochet' Magazine and 'Crochet Today' Magazine, as well as in my first book 'The Color Book of Felted Crochet.

' I also have a line of patterns available on my website aohdesigns.com and I host a blog of 'All things fiber crochet, knitting and otherwise' at www.thehookandi.com. Now let's get started crocheting beyond the basics.
