Crystal Norman: Hi, my name is Crystal Norman, with Earth Treks Climbing Centers, here in Rockville, Maryland. I am going to be showing you how to rock climb. Right now we are going to be going over dynamic movement. The first thing you want to do is set your feet up properly. This is going to be enclosed proximity to your hands and very high on the wall, and maybe an uncomfortable position, but its going to allow you to get the maximum distance from one push. So what you are going to do is pull yourself into the wall, standing up on your feet and aiming toward the hold you are going to. If you are having trouble getting to that hold, you may want to shoot just a little bit pass it, or remember to squeeze as you are coming back down over the hold. Dynamic moves are commonly referred to as dynos, which typically means when one or more of body point is coming off the wall; it could be a foot, hand, or even both hands. That was dynamic movement, and next we are going to go over rest positions and heel hooks when rock climbing.
