Josh Dubois: Hi! I am Josh Dubois and today we're talking about the 3G iPhone and Software Release 2.0.
I know that a lot of people are new to the iPhone whether it'd be the older one or they have got the newer model. So right now what I am going to go over is for beginners only and I am going to over the typing on the iPhone. The first thing you have to understand is that it takes around two weeks give or take to teach your fingers to understand that there are no physical keys and that the iPhone typing interface is way smarter than you are, which is the next most important aspect of learning to type fast. Let the iPhone do the guess work. It will guess correctly when you make a typo about 90% of the time which will make you wonder why your current computer keyboard doesn't do this.
Watch how it calculates out the letters you meant to hit and when you hit the spacebar it automatically switches the misspelled word to what you meant to say. The only problem is that sometimes you want to type things that are misspelled or something that's not in the dictionary. In this case just Backspace, start the word over and it should let you type the word that it thought was misspelled. Also if you have names in your contact that look like they would be weird misspelled words, guess what, your iPhone automatically knows, so feel free to use these whenever you like. Next the field to enter web addresses behaves differently, it will not guess what you want to say. There are so many specifics in web addresses that this feature is automatically turned on otherwise it would take forever to enter in the web address. Next here is how you shift. Here is how you go to numbers and symbols and here is the .com button in the web address field. Use it and you will save approximately one second each time. Lastly when you finish the sentence, just hit the spacebar twice, it puts a period on the end of your sentence. Coming up next we are going to talk about some of the accessories that are great to have with either iPhone.
