Josh Dubois: Hi! I am Josh Dubois, and today we are talking about the 3G iPhone and the Software Release 2.0, and right now I am going to go over what not to do with your new iPhone.

The first thing not to do, you will definitely not hear in any Apple store, in fact it will probably be pushed on you. AppleCare is an amazing protection plan, and if you are the type of person that forgets to put in the mail or your mail-in rebate you should probably think about buying it on the spot putting it under your pillow and never worrying about it again.

But if you are frugal at all, hold off, here's how it breaks down. You automatically get one year of protection for free when you purchase an iPhone and AppleCare extends that protection to two years. The thing is, you can purchase AppleCare up until the last day of your first year. So why not wait, a lot can happen in that year. Say for instance, Apple releases a new iPhone, and guess what, you want it. If you didn't buy the AppleCare you save $74 with pack and we can guess with current iPhone pricing, the prices of the hardware will not significantly rise. Then let's add in the price of selling, you are now totally uncool 3G iPhone, and we will guess to meet again at least $100. Look how much closer you are to the new iPhone 4G. In a year say they don't release the new phone, or you just want to continue the AppleCare service, buy the plan a week before it expires, win-win situation.

Next, do not -- and I repeat, do not go into the Genius Bar, Apple's tech support in the store without an appointment. You can make an appointment easily online and they don't accept and can't accommodate one without it. On a side note, it's going to be really, really busy the first month after the release of the 3G phone.

Next, don't play with the silencer on the phone. Even though like Pablo's dog you are rewarded with the phone vibrating ones, each time it will break your vibrate function, trust me, this is how I got iPhone number four.

Next, don't assume the headphones are as good as the phone, they are not. Don't forget to restart it routinely. With all the new apps you are running, you'll have to restart as a lot more than you did before, and before it was cause for attention.

Restarting kills all the programs, you are not using until you start them again. Don't hesitate to go get a new phone if you have a hardware problem. I did it five times last year and they are very accommodating at the Genius Bar. Apple has wonderful customer service.

Next, don't expect to replace your digital camera, with no flash it's not ready yet. But come on, it's a phone iPod Internet device and practically an arcade with all the applications.

Lastly, don't be afraid to turn off your Wi-Fi. If you use your iPhone while driving around at all you're probably constantly bombarded by the hundreds of Wi-Fi signals coming from local apartment. Turn it off, use your network and you'll be fine, and then turn it back on when you are out of secure sound Wi-Fi connection.

So hopefully that will help you through iPhone up in running and keep you from having to go to the Genius Bar as many times as I did in my first year of having it.
