Be Better Guys is the one stop to find out about all the things your dad didn't teach you, spiced up with a few things your girl wished you knew. Covering the fundamentals of men's clothing, grooming, and lifestyle, and with tips on entertaining and simply how to be, Be Better Guys is a practical guide written in regular guy-speak, from a couple of fellas who learned the hard way. From matching ties with shirts to keeping your nose hair trimmed; from keeping your feet presentable to understanding the basics of wine; from stocking your kitchen with tools to getting a distracted bartender's attention, Be Better Guys offers an informative, simple, and humorous way of putting yourself together.

David Boris and Brian Joyner, who are authors and public speakers, are the creators of Be Better Guys.  The two met while waiting tables in a restaurant in Georgetown fifteen years ago and have remained best friends ever since. Among their mutual interests, such as music, booze, and sports, they found they both shared the desire to be respected, stylish, sophisticated men - to be better guys. Together, David and Brian created Be Better Guys in early 2006 to help men improve their quality of life by dressing, grooming, behaving and living better. Taking the lessons learned from their parents, years of reading GQ, Esquire, and other men's resources, working as succesful executives, being in the service industry, leading popular bands, and blending it with their own dating and living experiences (good, bad, and oh so ugly), David and Brian offer guidance, tips, and suggestions on how to be a better guy. They aren't models, journalistis, clothing designers, fashion industry types, or emissaries of proper etiquette. Rather, David and Brian are two guys living in the real world, passing their knowledge on to other men who want to up their own games. Think of The Guys as your older brothers... without the beatdowns.

David Boris: Hi, I am David of bebetterguys.com, the guys guide to getting a life. We are talking about what to wear for an event. This one is going to be on funerals. People unfortunately die and when they do, they have to shindig for them and you will get invited. A lot of guys are pretty confused about what do you wear when you actually have a funeral. So we have got some tips for you so that you are looking appropriate and proper in a rather sombre occasion. Brian is going to help model some stuff for me too. You knew the patient obviously. I am sorry. Brian, if you can pull yourself together for a second, dressing for a funeral essentially, means dressing for a job interview and then you tone it down a notch. Black is for family members so I obviously, am the family --Brian Joyner: I am very sorry for you. David Boris. Thank you. Brian is demonstrating what you would wear if you are a guest. Again, muted dark suit which is a good way to go, a muted plaid is fine, pinstripes is not so much the reason being, a pinstripe looks like you just came from the office and that's not the way to look. You want to look a little bit more respectful so scrap the pinstripes, go for something subtle in this fashion. A light-colored shirt is also appropriate. They don't necessarily have to be white, but definitely something light, low key is good. The dark suit, dark shirt, dark tie look looks like you are Paulie Walnuts in the Sopranos funeral. So you don't want to go with that. A dark tie is also appropriate, not one that pops, it doesn't have to have a ton of punch to it, but it also doesn't have to be so sombre and so muted that it absolutely looks like you are the one who has died. So something low key in either case is appropriate in this situation. As we also talk about keep your jewelery low key so if you wear an earring, my personal opinion, this may not be the time to wear and keep your bracelets and your necklaces and all your other stuff, maybe keep that at home. Another thing to remember, bring a handkerchief. I guarantee you somebody will need it. Guys, now you know what to wear for a funeral so you are appropriate. Next we are going to talk about something a little more casual, business casual. To watch the other segments in this video series or for How-to videos on almost any other topic, visit monkeysee.com.
