Hi, my name is Chuck Herring from Mr. Tire, home of On The Rim & Out The Door and BRAKES FOREVER. This is Gary Goldstein, he is my Automotive Expert. Today were showing you how to change a spare. The first thing we need to do is to loosen up the lug nuts. Gary is placing a lug wrench on the actual lug nut and pressing down, lefty loosey, righty tighty, so right now were loosening them all. All were doing is were taking the pressure off the lug nuts, so when we raise the vehicle we will be able to get the lug nuts off a little bit easier. He is loosening up all the lug nuts, the next thing were going to be doing is staging the vehicle to jack it up. We need to be sure the emergency brake is on. We need to be sure the car is in park. We also want to be sure that there is a wheel chock or something to keep the vehicle from moving back and forth. Above all means, we want to be sure the car is on a nice flat surface, away from the traffic going by. The next thing I want to do is I want to show you where all these items are. Were now on the back of the vehicle, getting all the items we need to do a spare tire change. As you can see we have a doughnut spare, wheel chocks, lug wrench, and we also have a jack. Most Sedans, you will find them in the trunk, but in SUVs and pickup trucks, you may find them underneath the rear passenger seat. Sometimes you will find the jack and the lug wrench actually underneath the hood. If you cant find it in your vehicle, go to your Owners Manual, and you should be able to find where they are at that time.
