John Basedow: I am John Basedow and now we are going to do our first arm exercise, the Standing Barbell Curl. With this exercise you want to keep your feet about shoulder width apart and then you want to curl the weight up keeping tension on the muscle through the entire concentric or raising portion of the motion and eccentric or lowering portion of the motion. You always want to feel the burn as you build. This exercise is a great exercise for sculpting the entire arm because it involves both the biceps and triceps.
I do this exercise first and then I focus on the triceps which account for two-thirds of the arms muscle mass and focus on the biceps after that. Next up, we are going to do the French Press an exercise for the triceps.
