They clearly demonstrates lack of in-depth knowledge of that school. The applicant probably do not visit that school and they tend to regurgitate what other people are saying and perhaps one of the shocking thing is that a number of times they conclude that essay with, "and that's why I really want to attend _____ school but the key is that the school that they mentioned in the essay is not the same school that the application is being submitted to.
