Host: If I have more than one child, how can I prevent the illness spreading to my other children? Robin Vick: Hand washing flat out is the number one way that we can prevent the spread of any kind of illness no matter what it is; if it's a virus, if it's a germ, if it's a GI problem, if it's any communicable illness. Communicable means that it can be transmitted from me to you and the way that happens is by touch. We may directly touch a surface that has that germ or virus on it or we may touch the child himself. So just encouraging family members to thoroughly wash their hands in between care taking activities and keeping the well children also to keep their hands clean are going to be -- is the best prevention that you can ask for.
