Robin Vick: It's not uncommon for kids to fall and knock a tooth out. If that happens, what should happen is that you retrieve the tooth, just gently rinse it off, don't scrub it, you want to be retaining that blood supply and the remnant of the root that remains at the base of the tooth. Apply pressure to the empty socket and get the child to a dentist if that all possible on an emergency basis. In most situations like that the news is very good and very helpful, teeth can be very very often replaced if that procedure is followed in a quick fashion.
