Charlie Anderson: Hi, Charlie Anderson here, Metal Gear Solid 4 expert. In this section we are going to go over controls; how to control Snake, how to control certain things in his environment, how we interact with that, also, how you interact with other people as well. So with that, let's get into it.

The basic stuff for controls is your left joystick controls your character, while your right joystick controls your camera. I mean it's pretty basic operations, but you can see how I use both the camera and both joysticks to get around and all that stuff. One thing to notice too is your Triangle button is your interaction button. So I am going to go up to this wall, hit Triangle, and its going to pin me to the wall. And then I would hit Triangle to get back off the wall or just to --Whenever you are playing the game and you forget how to do something, hit the Select button that would bring up everything you need to know about the game with regards to controls. Notice how everything says, L2 - it says open Item Window, R2 is Weapon Window, so on and so forth, you can see all this stuff. Just some quick stuff you could do. If you hold -- as you are walking and you hold X, to do a run, a roll, and then you will fall on the ground. You can also -- just while you are running, use the X, to do a roll from where you are. Now, if you are just standing still and you hit X, you will crouch; and if you hold X, you will lie on the ground too.

To aim your weapon you would want to push and hold L1, which would bring up your over the shoulder look. Now if you notice, I am facing the wrong direction, I want to get around the other shoulder, so I am going to press again on the R3 button, so that brings up that. And if I want to fire my weapon at this pose right here, I would press R1 to fire my weapon, but notice how the all the guards are shooting at me. If you hold R2 it brings up your weapons selection, which you can go through and select different weapons and all that fun stuff. And then L2 brings up your Items; so all your items are displayed. You can scroll through them by hitting the Left and Right Directional Pad, and all that good stuff. Pressing Start will bring up your Map in your Start screen. If you want to go into First Person Mode, which is what makes it really awesome is while holding L1, you press the Triangle button, this will put you in First Person Mode. I pretty much would use that in close mode. I personally don't use this a lot just because I have gotten used to figuring out where the center of my screen is, based on this little Circle, where the weapon is; pressing get the Head Shot button.

Other cool controls that you can do is, Snake will lie on the ground; if you hit Triangle while lying on the ground, he will flip over, which you can then scoot around and all that stuff. You can actually roll too if you hold L1 while aiming, moving, and then hitting X, you will roll around the ground, which is good for, if you get knocked off your feet, and you can get around quickly.

Another thing to do, if you run out of ammo, your weapon will automatically recharge itself when you try to fire, but say you get two shots in and you want to just reload your weapon, you hit Circle to reload your weapon.

I am going to try to attempt some CQC, which is Close Quarters Combat. If you want to do CQC, which is Close Quarters Combat, you have to have a weapon that is equipped to CQC. If you notice in the right hand -- upper right part of the weapon, there is something that says CQC on it. That means that you can use Close Quarters Combat with this weapon; not all weapons have them, some of them are specific to other things. But if you want to use CQC, you need to run up to an enemy, hopefully not get seen, and you are going to hold R1 while you do it, which will grab your enemy, throw him down, or whatever. See, I could grab this guy and then you can do a Triangle attack if you want. Then you can wake this guy up if you want, and have some more fun with him. I personally like to knock him out, put their lights out.

That's pretty much the basics for controls. Once you master the controls, pretty much everything else falls into place. Just remember the basics, you know, if you have any issues, you always just hit Select, it brings up where everything is, and that's it. Alright, so that was controls, next up we have weapons and items.
