Apply Makeup - Cover Face and Body Imperfections

Right now, we are going to talk about how to cover up skin imperfections such as blemishes or acne scars with makeup. You are going to need a couple of basic tools, a concealer brush is going to be great because it is going to help you put your product right in the spots where you need it. You are going to also want to use a cover stick that will match your skin tone and some loose powder to set everything to make sure it stays on all day. So, let's get started.

Our model has a little bit of acne scar on the nose, which is common for lots of women and it is really easy to cover up with cosmetics. What you are going to do, is just take your concealer stick and your brush and very lightly apply it to the affected area. It is important that you use the brush just to apply the makeup where you need it, so you do not get a heavy look. Blend out all the edges so you do not see where the makeup starts and stops and then your next step is to set. Take your loose powder and you can use a sponge or a brush and very lightly tap on top of the area where you have applied the makeup. This is going to take away any excess shine and also help the makeup to stand all day and that is how you cover a skin imperfection.

Covering areas on the body is really similar to covering areas on the face with makeup. You are just going to want to make sure that you work with the right color. Here we have a tattoo. Sometimes, people like to cover tattoos if they are going to special event or if they are going to be taking pictures and it is really easy to do. What you want to do is start with a corrector. Corrector is a little bit different than concealer because they have more peach undertones and peach undertones are great in covering up the blue and the green in the tattoo. So, we are going to use the same brush and really lightly just paint over the tattoo. As you can see, you don't need to use a lot of makeup just enough so you can neutralize any of the blue or green pigment that the tattoo is showing, blend it out and then go to your concealer. Now remember, the concealer is the product that actually matches your skin. We are going to do the same thing, just going right on top where we put the corrector. Now keep in mind, a tattoo is something permanent, so there is no way to completely erase it, but we can definitely soften the look of it and make it less noticeable. Paying special attention to areas that are little bit deeper like the outlines of the picture, go on with your fingers and smooth out the edges again, so you don't know where the makeup starts and the skin stops and then, of course, you are going to set it with a loose powder. This is a really important step because you don't want the makeup wearing off on your clothes or wiping off during the day. Press it in and brush off the excess. Now you can see, you cannot completely erase the tattoo, but it definitely is a lot softer looking and less noticeable.
