Host: How long can a victim of cardiac arrest wait for treatment?
Robert O'Connor: They don't have that much time. They have maximum 4-6 minutes. Without treatment the person will not survive in that time period. Most of the time EMS is at least four minutes away, so it's really important for the bystander to perform CPR. In fact, the number one predictor of survival from cardiac arrest is whether or not a bystander perform CPR.
