Host: What are the signs or symptoms of a stroke in adults?

Dr. Nina Solenski: There are some very common signs that all of us need to recognize so that we can help immediately. These signs consists of mainly, weakness particularly if it is on one side of the body, numbness. It can be some difficulty in the language skills and that could be your comprehension, how you are understanding what's someone saying to you or it can be the production of speech. How it is coming out? Is it coming out gargled? Yet you don't mean it to be that way. That's a very prominent sign. Other things include dizziness and by that I mean true feeling as if the world is moving about and at the same time if you are experiencing difficulty with your arms in coordination that's a very prominent sign. Now it's important about these signs is that they come on abruptly and really capture your attention. An easy way to remember the signs and symptoms of stroke is to remember the word, FAST. F stands for face, any kind of droopiness in the face, A stands for arm, any weakness in the arm. S stands for speech, any change in your speech and T is for time where time is of the essence, get to the emergency room immediately.
