Hi I'm Owen with Billabongs OC ground surf camp based in Ocean City, Maryland, K-Coast Surf Shop 35th street. Right now, we are going to be learning how to surf and our second step is lying prone on the board, its important that we are well-balanced on our board. We want to make sure that we are not too far forward, too far forward on the board so that we sink the nose, we want to make sure we are not too far back in the board to sink the tail. We want to find that happy medium, every board is going to be different, and every one's body size is going to affect the balance of the board. So, it's important that you find that spot when you have selected your board. With this particular board right here, the longboard we showed you, I'm going to indicate where our body should be. Notice that I'm not too far forward on the board, and I'm not too far back, my feet are still on the back of the board, almost touching the back end of the board, the tail. We are going to find our balance using our stomach, hips and thighs a good way to show you that is if we raise our arms and legs we can feel the body weight right in that core part of our body and that will balance ourselves on the board. Now, that we have a good body position, we can begin talking about paddling.
