Joe Brennan: Hi, I am Joe Brennan from progamer.com and this video series is on how to join Xbox Live. Right now we are going to learn how to connect your Xbox console to the Internet. To connect your Xbox to the Internet, you are going to have to do one of two things. You will either have to use a standard land-line cable to plug into the back of the Xbox. Or if you have a wireless network in your house, you can get the Xbox 360 connector from Microsoft and plug that into your machine and clip it on in the back. Now, you have got your Xbox connected to the Internet. We have to make sure that it has the proper settings, so it's receiving a signal. So, the first thing you need to do, when you get to the Xbox menu, you use your left thumb stick to either navigate to the left through the screens or to the right. And we are going to go to the right-most screen which is tabbed 'System'. And we are going to go to the Console Settings. This is the first set the top. We are going to go all the way down to Network Settings, so that we make sure that your Xbox can connect clearly to your home Internet service. So navigate down, use the green Select A button and we are going to go to Test Xbox LIVE Connection. Once you select that, the Xbox will automatically run it's test and you will be able to see as it source through it's menu whether or not there are going to be any problems with connecting. If there is a problem, you will see just to the right of the Status a More Info button. If for some reason you get a failed message, just navigate to the right with your left thumb stick, select the green A button and it will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to remedy the problem. As you can see right now, we are fully connected to the Internet through our home system, so what we are going to do is we are going to go back and we are going to test our media connection or you can also go to the Edit Settings button, if you have -- well let's go to the Edit Settings button. For most people, these settings are going to mean absolutely nothing. But for some people they will be able to see that -- compare there IP Address, there Gateway Address, their Wireless Security if there is a password that you need to connect to your Internet connection in you household, usually for a wireless system. So why don't we select that just so you can see. If you select a Wireless Network like I have in my home and we are going to select the first one Ducati, you are presented with the on screen keypad. So using your left thumb stick again, you enter the characters. In this case -- now that we have our password typed in, we are just going to select the Done button. Now, it will ask that if we want to test our connection. We will test it with Xbox LIVE and it will run us through that automated menu. So we have a confirmed connection. Everything is ready to go. Now it's time to move back to our main menu. So now that we have your Xbox console connected to the Internet, it's now time to create your own gamer tag for Xbox Live.
