Host: What are the treatments for eye damage due to sun exposure?

Dr. Laura D. Cook: Well, it really depends on what type of complication or what type of condition you have from the sun. In terms of the acute conditions, the solar retinopathy problem, the surface of the cornea problem, it's avoiding that kind of exposure and then treating the corneal burn with the appropriate medications, solar retinopathy, keeping the patient out of the sun and watching it resolve. In terms of the skin cancer or skin conditions, in terms of the growths on the eye, it would be following any recommendations by your ophthalmologist in terms of having a surgical resection and having it treated by burning or freezing, just like a dermatologist.
