Hi! My name is Martha Hemmingway and I am teaching you some basic clogging steps. Now, we are going to work on some clogging steps that involve traveling from side to side. The first one is the favorite of my dancers; it is called the clog over vine. Lets work on that. What you need to remember is that there are six double steps at the beginning of this. So, what you are going to do is double step to the side, cross over, side, back, side, cross over in front again and then do a basic. That was a clog over vine just going to the left. Lets try that again. Remember you are counting six double steps and basically you are going to go side cross front, side cross back, side cross front and then end with a basic and as you remember basic is a double step, rock step. So, lets that; five, six, clog over vine and a one and a two and a three and a four and a five and a six and a seven and a one and a two and a three and a four and a five and a six and a seven and eight. I always make my dancers do a clap, clap on the basic; they just like to add that part to it. Lets try this one more time because this one is little bit more difficult than the ones we have had before; five, six, clog over vine and a one and a two, three and a four and a five and a six and a seven and eight and a one and a two, three and a four and a five and a six and a seven and eight. Another traveling step thats a lot of fun is called the triple loop. Lets see what that looks like. You are going to start off just like you are starting a clog over vine. You are going to go side, front, side, you only do three of them, then pick up your right foot and just do a loop in mid air right behind you and step on it. Lets try that again. Three double steps, side cross inside, loop behind and when you loop behind, make sure you put your weight on it because you are going to want to start it again to do another triple loop. Five, six, triple loop left, double step, double step, double step, loop behind, so that you can get one more, double step, double step, double step, loop behind.
Now, lets try this on the right foot heading this direction. Again, side, front, side and then loop behind. Five, six, triple loop right, double step, double step, double step loop behind, double step, double step, double step, loop behind. Okay, you have learnt two traveling steps. Next, we are going to learn two of my favorite steps called the hippity hop and shaven hair cut, happy clogging.
