Hula Dance - Little Brown Gal (Verse 1)

Makanani Lyau: Aloha, I am Makanani and this is Kanekia and right now we will be demonstrating for you the first verse of 'Little Brown Gal'. The first verse of 'Little Brown Gal' begins 'It's not the islands fair that are calling to me'. So to begin we will start in our Hula position, our feet are slightly apart, our knees are bent and our hands are on our hips. We are going to take our Kaholo, our two steps to the right, 'it's not the islands fair' and then two steps left, 'that are calling to me', good. Now we will add the hands. For 'it's not the islands fair' we will extend out left arm out in front of our chest and our right elbow goes on top of our left hand and we will be waving no.

So 'it's not the islands fair' two steps to the right, 'that are calling to me'. We will take our hand and just point it at ourselves while we will take two steps to the left, 'that are calling to me', good. The next line says 'it's not the balmy air'so we are going to Kaholo back to the right, we are going to lift our arms up over our head and wave our hands gracefully representing the air. So 'it's not the balmy air' and the last line is 'nor the tropical sea', so we will take two steps to the left and lift our arms up and down making with the hand, motion of the sea.

Now let's put it all together. Ready 'it's not the islands fair that are calling to me, it's not the balmy air nor the tropical sea, good. And this is the end of the first verse and now we will learn the chorus.
