Brian Trochelmann: I am Brian Trochelmann, Service Manager with Fairfax Motors. I am showing you how to prepare your car for a road trip. Now we are going to be turning our attention to the lighting system, that is, the external lighting, all the way around the car. First, we are going to be looking at the headlights. It's going to require two people to do this. So I am going to list the help of Charlie Robertson, our Assistant Service Manager. Charlie, if you wouldn't mind please. What we are going to be doing is we are going to be turning on the ignition first, not cranking the car. We kind of want to be expedient about this because we going to be draining the battery. So it's important we do this kind of rapidly. First, we are going to turn our attention to the front headlights. Once we turn the ignition on, we are going to get our running lights. They are functioning. Now we are going to turn our headlights on and here we have xenon headlights and they are also functioning. When it comes to the high beams, we are going to be looking at two settings. First, the flash, it's going to turn the high beam on for a short period of time and then we will have the permanent high beams, which they are also functioning. Next, we are going to be looking at the fog lights. If you would mind turning the fog lights on and the fog lights are operational. Next, we are going to be inspecting the turn signals. It's important that we don't assume that we can just hit the Hazard switch and inspect all of the lights. Sometimes, the Hazard switch is independent to the turn signal switch. All Hazard lights will work but the turn signal will not work. Since while we are traveling, the turn signals are most important for left and right hand turning, we are going to inspect them this way. If I could have the right turn signal please. Right turn signal working. Left please. Left side is working. So at this juncture we have been able to inspect all of the headlights on the front. We are going to be turning our attention to the rear lights. Okay, now we have moved to the back of the car and the first thing we are going to do is going to check the breaks. If you wouldn't mind hitting the breaks please. We are going to be having left and right brakes but also third brake light. Everything is functioning. Now please the headlights. Okay headlights are working. We have noticed the illumination for the tag, both tail lights are functioning. Now we are going to be checking reverse and we have reverse lights also functioning. Now we are going to come out of reverse, we are going to check the left turn signal and the right side turn signal. So everything is working when it comes to the lights. Some cars have side marker lights that work either with the day time running lights and or with your turn signals. So you do want to check them at the same time. Next, I am going to show you how to inspect the undercarriage of your car.
