Tomas Sbertoli: Hi! I am Tomas Sbertoli, Director of Snowsports here at Wintergreen Resort, Virginia. Today I am going to teach you the basics of snowboarding. You really don't need much to get started, just a comfortable pair of snowboard boots and a snowboard with binding for the setup to your stance. Either a regular which is left foot forward or Goofy which is right foot forward, and a comfortable open area to get started and start practicing. One of the other big points that we are going to cover are the seven responsibility codes that every skier or snowboarder should know when they are out on the hill. Those points are how to help you stay safe and others around you stay safe while you are out enjoying the slopes. Before we get started, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been in the industry for over 20 years. I fought at Crestview in Colorado, Sun Valley, Idaho and now here at Wintergreen in Virgina. I have been skiing for most of my life and snowboarding for about the last 15 years, and teaching that for about the last 10. I really enjoy both sports. They are pretty easy to learn and it's a lot of fun to get new people out into this sports. So let's get started.
