Tomas Sbertoli: Hi! I am Tomas Sbertoli, Director of Snowsports here at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia. I am teaching you the basics of snowboarding and our next step is to start linking that heel side slide into a toe side slide with a little straight run in between. Those are linked turns. We will start out with what we already know best which is the heel side slide. May be even a little falling leaf to get comfortable. Get that board starting the point down hill and then just roll it into a straight run and around the heel side to the toe side, back again flat down the hill and around to heel side. Good athletic stance, quite upper body, point the board down the heel and then roll up on to the toe side edge. Again, slowly flatten the board and come into the fall line, roll on to the heel side edge. Once you got a feel for this, you are linking turns and you are ready to tackle the hill, but remember, always respect your ability and start slow.
