It all started in my early teens washing cars in the back of my fathers barber shop. After eight years in the United States Secret Service, I made an unsuccessful run for the United States House of Representatives in 1980. In 1981, I decided to start my own business, Pro Clean of Tysons Corner, Inc. After 26 years of success, we are still washing and detailing cars from Volkswagons to Rolls Royces and have grown to be one of the largest detailing businesses in the Washington DC area. “It takes more than a bucket and a hose to clean a car”, Washingtonian Magazine, 1986

Hi, I am Michael, Pro Clean of Tysons Corner. Today, were learning how to wash a car.

Now, that weve got it all soaked and washed on the body of the car, let's get it all rinsed off, get the soap rinsed off of it. Get you hose, get a nice nozzle, one that has different pressure settings on it, and you can invest in the pressure washers, they are very inexpensive, you can buy them for $50 on sale at a lot of places, makes the job a lot easier, but doesnt work, just fine.

When you are rinsing off, use the cone as they call it, the cone style, it makes it rinse off a lot easier, covers more ground when you are doing it. When you get it into the gutters behind the mirrors and things, pinpoint it more. It rinses a lot easier, but make sure you get behind the mirrors, gets all that extra suds out of there, around the door jams, the windows sills and all those things in there to get it all rinsed off. You dont want to leave any on there. Behind the windshield blades, lift them up and get it all rinsed off, very simple. Start at the top and work down, that way you dont repeat yourself over and over again. Wash it the one side, when you go on the other side, just rinse it off. Get the rims ready, because we are going to clean the rims next.
