How to Choose Ski Boot Insoles

Hi! My name is Ryan Sasse. I am here with Ski Chalet in Arlington, Virginia. Today, we are talking about how to get a new set of Ski equipment. Now we have talked about boots. What we can do is talk about some additional support that is necessary to make a boot fit a little bit better and aid the person in better fit throughout the skiing there. You can certainly get into a better insole that is going to support the foot. Basically, what comes with the boot is a very just light weight foam cardboard piece that doesn't really support the foot at all. So you certainly want to replace that. You can get into a basic insole like this that is just trim to fit. Essentially, we just trim the insole to match the insole that is in the boot. So you can replace it and it will fit in there nicely. What this insole does is supports the arch better. It also help stabilize the heel as well. By supporting the arch, it is going to hold your foot in a much better position, more neutral and natural stance that your foot is used to. It also holds the muscle in place that way. The arch muscle doesn't have to sustain itself throughout the day. The benefits are that your feet won't get as tired. You are going to get better circulation and you are going to get a better overall fit from the boot. Now that is just the basic trim to fit which is much better than what comes in the boot. Up from that, you can certainly step into a custom version. The custom insole, this is a coat version. There are certainly other options out there with foam and such. Basically, what you are going to do is this is going to get headed by the professional and then we will essentially attach this to the top sheet, go through the motions of sitting down, having this basically adhere to the foot and then suction with a plastic bag. So it pulls the insole directly up to the foot and matches the insole to the foot in an unweighted seated position, that way when the person stands on this insole when it is finished, your foot stays in that position, again, in some more neutral, natural stance that way it supports the foot, best possibility throughout the course of the day. These are certainly some of the major points that you want to focus on going through the whole boot fit. There is a lot more that you can learn. We don't need to take up that much time today. You will learn that from your boot fitter next time you go into the shop. Now we have done boots.
