It all started in my early teens washing cars in the back of my fathers barber shop. After eight years in the United States Secret Service, I made an unsuccessful run for the United States House of Representatives in 1980. In 1981, I decided to start my own business, Pro Clean of Tysons Corner, Inc. After 26 years of success, we are still washing and detailing cars from Volkswagons to Rolls Royces and have grown to be one of the largest detailing businesses in the Washington DC area. “It takes more than a bucket and a hose to clean a car”, Washingtonian Magazine, 1986

Hi, I am Michael, Pro Clean of Tysons Corner. Today, were learning how to wash a car.

Now, that weve got the body washed, the tires and the rims now we are going to dry it. Let me show you some things to use for it.

This is new, its a silicon squeegee, its basically what it is. Works very good, doesnt scratch the paint, very safe for clear coated paints, just run it across, dont push down too hard on it, and just take the top layers of water off, very easy, very easy.

Dries it down pretty good, now come back on it. We prefer to use towels. A lot of people like to use chamois and stuff, towels in our opinion are cleaner easier to use, and theyre reusable more. Start at the top, work your way down, get the windows, get all the edges, get all the chrome. Constantly flipping the towel over, moving it around, if you clean the car good enough, when you dry it, you dont have to redo those windows, because they are going to be spotless when you are done.

Go all the way around, inside again and again underneath your windshield wiper blades, keep flipping the towels. Once, your towel gets to a point of where its saturated grab another towel. Switch towels, go to another one, because its just not going to soak up any more water.

After youve got the body dried, take your first towel, the one thats wet, pop your doors and dry your door jams down. Even though you didnt wash them, they are still going to be wet, because thats where the water drains through, that keeps that clean. Take your same towel again, the dirty one, the one thats wet, and just go over your tires, just a quick turn over the tires. They dont really mean much, they will dry right away.

Thats pretty much how you dry the car down.
