Hi! I am Tim MacWelch of Earth Connection School of Wilderness Survival and Ancient Skills near Fredericksburg, Virginia. In this video clip series, we are going to talk about winter survival tips. We are going to talk about how to prevent hypothermia and what that is. We are going to talk about how to get hydrated, how to find water, purify it, and make sure you are drinking enough. We are also going to talk about frostbite, what it is and how to prevent and we are also going to talk about what gear you should have with you every trip, every time. So, the tools and materials we are going to need for outdoor winter survival include adequate clothing which we will discuss in the hypothermia clips. We are also going to need some safe equipment like a way to make a fire, a way to sterilize water, a way to signal for help, preferably a cell phone and also we need to have someone else aware of our outdoor plans, that's probably the most important part of outdoor safety. Someone needs to know where you are going to be, how long you will be gone, and when to expect to be back. Earth Connection is a school of Wilderness Survival and Ancient Skills based in Fredericksburg, Virginia with a new branch in Durham, North Carolina and we offer classes in Wilderness Survival, primitive technology, wild edible plants, friction fire making and many other outdoor skills, every month that of the year. And our motto is don't survive harder, survive smarter. Now in our first video clip, we are going to talk about the parallels of hypothermia and our first line of defense, clothing.
