John Cohen: Hi! I am John Cohen from Beyond Comics in Maryland. We are Maryland's largest comic bookstore. We have been in business for 12 years. In this series of clips, I am going to show you how to start your own comic book collection. We are going to show you how to bag your comics, store them in boxes, build those boxes and where you can keep your boxes safe. Select what kind of collector you want to be and make sure you keep your comics in good condition. There is only a couple of basic tools you need when you are collecting comics. First off is a reason to collect comics, a passion for reading or desire to make some money or just the fun of the entertainment. The next thing you need are tape, backing boards, bags and a box and you are set to go. Just remember whenever you are dealing with comics, if you want to keep them in good shape you have to be very careful whenever you are handling anything. I have been doing comic books almost as far as I remember, started in early 80s as a retailer which puts me actually on the longer edge of retailers in this country. So now that you know a little bit about me. Lets take you on a ride to creating your comic book collection.
