    Advice to make a good Fire and wood lat longer.
    1-Be sure the firewood is dry. It takes heat to convert water into vapor. The heat is wasted to convert water into steam. 2-Be sure you have installed a butterfly valve (Dumper) so that the heat will not go out to the chimney but in your room. 3-Once the fire becomes red hot; you want most of the heat to come from conversion of CO2 into CO. This process gives too much heat and makes the wood last longer. Keep the Butterfly valve almost close

Jerry Neal: Hi! I am Jerry Neal from Sugarlaof Chimney Restoration and today I am going to teach you how to build a fire in your fireplace. In today's video series, we are going to go over how to visually inspect your fireplace, identify the fireplace you are using, choosing fire wood, laying the fire, lighting the fire, tending the fire and general inspection and maintenance guidelines. Before we begin, remember that fireplace safety is always important. When handling wood and making a fire, be sure to wear gloves on your hands. Make sure you have a good grate, your damper is opened, make sure that your fireplace screen is in good condition and that you have wood or combustibles at least three feet away from the fireplace. To build a fire in the fireplace, you need a few basic tools. You need a good fireplace tool set. You need a fireplace grate. You need a good fireplace screen or glass doors. You also will need newspaper to start the wood on fire or some commercial fire starters that you can buy at the grocery store. Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a Certified Chimney Sweep and been cleaning and restoring chimneys for the last 28 years. I am the owner of Sugarloaf Chimney Restoration and working in Washington D.
