How to Arrange Flowers in a Bubble Bowl Centerpiece

Margaret Flis: Hi, I am Margaret Flis from Gathered Stems and I am showing you how to put together a bubble bowl arrangement.

We are going to go ahead and start putting our flowers in, we will start with the hydrangea, go ahead and take them, get them in a good mount and then we are going to sort of measure to the size of our vase.

Leave it longer rather than shorter, you can always go shorter but you cant get them any longer, so kind of measure it up, do a good snip, place them in; now thats too long, we are going to want to go shorter. What you want is for the head of the hydrangea to sit right on the lip of the vase. Take down a little bit more. That feels pretty good. Its not wobbling; they are sitting in there good.

Okay, this is going to be the base to our arrangement.

The next step is going to be to add greenery. So, we are going to go through and kind of separate your hydrangea and slide some greenery in, again this is the variegated pitt, this is nice color, because its got the two tone green.

Be sure to cut all of your stems, get a good clean cut, just in case you have to take anything back out and reinsert it, its going to make it easier.

Okay, there is your variegated pitt.

Next, we will go ahead and add some of the bupleurum, give it a good snip. Add that in there, this is going to stand up a little bit higher, thats fine. Just be sure you leave your stems long enough, so that they reach down into the water. You can always go back and add more of this at the end if you need to. We are just going to get some in here to start with.

Okay, I am going to stick with just this greenery for now; we will add our lemon leaf at the end. The next flower to add will be your roses and what you want to do is have one in the center and three around the edge, because if we are using this as a centerpiece, you want it to be interesting from all sides.

So, again with this you are going to kind of line it up to where you want it to go in your vase and snip it to that length. You want it to just barely kind of tuck down in.

So, there is one side, let me go over, snip, and I am spinning my stem a little bit to get it, to go in there nice and smoothly. Do one over here, kind of measure it up. There are your three outer ones, you can go ahead and enter your center one, right down through that greenery, I do that a little bit shorter, nestles right down in there. Then we are going to add our mini gerbera daisies, and these are going to go in the spaces in between your roses.

So, go ahead and measure it up, make a little space for it and slide it in there.

There are your flowers, now we are going to add the Salal (Lemon Leaf), this is going to make a nice color around the edge of your vase, you can kind of going to go up underneath your hydrangea and tuck it in. You can cut off leaves if they are coming out a little too far. You can add a few pieces in here at the top also, tuck those down in, a little bit further.
