Tint Car Windows - Final Cleaning and Maintenance
Automotive Expert Laurence Streidel breaks down how to clean and maintain tinted car windows.
Transcripts
Laurence Streidel: Hi! My name is Laurence Streidel. I am the owner of Winners Window Tint here in Rockville, Maryland. In this segment of Tint Your Ride, I am going to go through touch-ups and clean-ups.
First off, walk around the car and examine your windows. If you see any bubbles or fingers, which are bubbles that looks like a finger and come from the edge of the applied film in the glass, take your hard card and press against the film and push down towards the edge.
Oh congratulations! You have actually now learned how to tint your ride. A couple of things to go over with you really quickly is that after you have applied the actual window film to the car, do not roll your windows down for the first three days. You will also want to park your car in direct sunlight. Thats going to speed up a lot of the drying process throughout the next couple of days as its drying. The more sunlight the windows get, the faster they will dry out. You will still see in the film as its drying, streakiness, bubbles, the distortion, all things of those are perfectly normal. They just have to dry. Just have a little bit of patience and let your customers know that as well.
After three days, you can go ahead and roll down your windows, but most importantly also is do not use any type of cleaner that contains ammonia. Ammonia is extremely harsh for window film and it cant heat through the coloration process. The more ammonia spray on this film, the faster they actually will fade. So please just note, try to use a cleaner that has no ammonia in it. If you are a new bee in this industry and you are looking just to tint one car, take it to a professional. If you are looking to take this into a career for yourself and you want to tint 10-10,000 cars, this is the video that you will want to watch and see.
In my career, I have tinted over 11,000 cars and everyone has to start somewhere. Just remember, there is no such thing as a perfect tint shop. Industry standard is five feet away from the car. From five feet away, if you dont see any types of dust or any type of particles from that distance, then thats a perfect tint shop.
Well, I hope all of these techniques that I have taught you today will come in handy in your career as becoming a window tinter. Thank you for watching this video on Tint Your Ride.
