Transcripts
Stephanie Kraft: Hi! I am Stephanie Kraft and I am a HypnoBirthing Practitioner. I am talking about having a baby using the HypnoBirthing method. Right now, I am explaining what HypnoBirthing is.
HypnoBirthing is a method of natural child birth which uses hypnosis to help a woman achieve a deeply relaxed state, so that she can birth with ease and comfort. In HypnoBirthing, a woman learns to achieve the deeply relaxed state through the use of hypnosis CDs and techniques learned in class.
Marie Mongan created HypnoBirthing. She is a Master Hypnotherapist and she had four children in the late 50s and early 60s. In preparation for her births, she read the work of Dr. Grantley Dick-Read. He is the obstetrician who brought natural child birth back to the west in the 1920s. She developed this method drawing from his work and from her expertise in hypnosis.
HypnoBirthing is based on the premise that without fear or tension, birth can be calm, comfortable and even enjoyable. In a relaxed state, a woman can give birth easily and avoid unnecessary medical interventions. HypnoBirthing is about following the body's own natural birthing instincts and getting out of the way to allow labor to unfold in its own time without pressure to perform.
HypnoBirthing is about birthing basics and it's the way women all around the world have given birth for thousands of years. The HypnoBirthing approach views birth as a natural event and not a medical event. So that is a little background about what HypnoBirthing is. Next, I am going to talk about why we use hypnosis for birth.
