Brad Parker: Hi! I am Brad Parker with MyFlorist in McLean, Virginia. We have been talking about flowers on Mothers Day. In this segment, we are going to discuss what is the appropriate delivery date for your Mothers Day flowers. First of all, Mothers Day is always on a Sunday. The mostly traditional delivery day is Saturday for a couple of reasons.

The main reason is that if you give the flowers, have them delivered or deliver them yourself on Saturday, it allows the person to bask in the celebration of Mothers Day for the entire weekend. Of course, the flowers will live well beyond Mothers Day, but to be able to enjoy them, be recognized early and throughout the whole weekend, we think it's a good thing.

Also, depending where you are in the country, there are still many florists that just aren't open on Sundays. So in that sense, you don't have a choice. The 20 years that we have been in business, we have also seen a trend of more and more of Mothers Day flowers be delivered on Thursday and Friday. The main reason for this is that more and more women are working and people have found that having the flowers delivered to the place of work has a lot of positives. Lets be honest, all of us enjoy receiving gifts and being recognized amongst our peers and co-workers. It's generally very well received when you send flowers to whether it's your mother or your mother-in-law, whoever it may be while they are at work. With all that said, it's important to realize that there's a difference between when you have flowers delivered and when you actually order the flowers. We strongly recommend that you don't wait till Friday or Saturday to order your flowers. If you wait till Saturday, many florists are so overwhelmed that they stop taking orders by Saturday. If you wait till Saturday, if you call three or four florists, you will probably be able to find someone to take your order, but even so, you might not have as many options available to. So we recommend that you place your order by Wednesday or Thursday. In doing so, you will not only have no trouble in getting them delivered, when you would like to have them delivered, but you also won't be limited in your choice and in your options. Also, you'll find that the people you are talking to arent at that point so entirely stressed out and tired as well. So all the way around it's a win-win situation, if you plan ahead and place your order earlier in the week by Wednesday, its probably best. Certainly, if you let it aside or in the last minute remember, you will be able to get it done on a Saturday but it could be a little bit unnecessary work for yourself. So those are the few factors that you should consider about the appropriate day of delivery and when you should place your order. Coming up, we are going to discuss what you might expect to spend for your Mothers Day flowers.
