Men's Skin Care - Using Toner

Pirooz Sarshar: Hi! I am Pirooz Sashar, co-founder of the Grooming Lounge. Today, I am teaching you the basics of men's skin care. In this segment, I am going to teach you about toners. If you are wondering, do I need to use a toner or what is a toner? Well, a toner removes build-up and residue and shrinks your pores. And the most important job that a toner achieves it restores balance to the skin. So now you have washed your face, you have exfoliated your face, now we need to restore balance to the skin, okay. Toners come in many forms. Toners are different for different skin types. If your skin is prone to acne, the toner will contain maybe more alcohol or ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide which help basically fight in remedy acne. If you have gentle skin, the toner is more gentle and be more of a spray toner just like this one. And this is a toner just for gentle skin and I will show you how to use this. This is for dry, age skin. And this is a very basic toner, right here watch this and this is how you use it, you just basically spray it on the face and voila! it restores balance, very simple. But the toner that I am going to be using today and this toner that's perfect for my skin type and most of you guys out there, is this liquid one right here. All you need is a cotton ball just like this one, open the top, apply the toner just like this, make sure it's in your sink, so it doesn't get everywhere. And you are going to notice, I am going to start working from my forehead and I am going to work all the way down. Okay, and what's happening right now is it's closing up the pores, it's restoring balance and it looks a little wet, but I am going to use it all over my face and be sure to stretch the skin so you don't miss any of the fine details. Okay, and something that's really interesting is, in filming this, I've washed my face, I've exfoliated my face and now look at the toner, look at all the build up. This is after washing and exfoliating my face. This is all the build-up around my nose, around my neck, around my face. I think it's a good idea to use a toner.
