Ryan Arensdorf: Hi! I am Ryan with Just Doors. Now that our holes are drilled on the door, we'll be going to the notions of how to properly install the deadbolt itself. Before installing a deadbolt, ensure that the top is up, top is marked on most of the backsets. I will be using a rigid impact gun to install the backset. Install through the 3 inch screws provided with the hardware. Now we are ready to install the deadbolt. Now we have drilled our holes at 2 3/8 inch. Again, these are adjustable for 2 3/4 inch. So make sure that you pick the correct hole and it's labeled on the backset for the pin. We will insert the pin into the 2 3/8 hole. Here's a view of that from the inside of the door. Now we will be installing the backset turn handle. Center the turn handle straight up and down. So the screws will go in. I am keeping a tight hold on the outside. You may have to move it around a little bit to ensure that screws go in the hole. Using your drill gun or hand drill, tighten the screws. Make sure not to tighten the screws all the way, as they will cause deadbolt not to work. Throw the ball a couple of times to ensure that it's working properly. Now that we have installed the deadbolt and backset, we are ready to mark and drill for the hole for the backset as well as the strike plate and security plate.
