Vince Clingenpeel: I m Vince Clingenpeel, Home Inspector. We re talking about the issues you should be looking for about your home inspection. We re in the bedroom; we re looking at the general condition of this room. One of the things I always like to check is the windows, making sure they operate smoothly, not binding. It s also a big issue with me if it happens to be a children s room. We don t always check every window or every plug, just a representative number. Another good thing to look for is the space around the doors. The margin as it s called in a trade is indicative of quality work or it could be indicative of a problem with the house. Binding doors, uneven spaces, could be a problem in some other issue.
If you re looking in a house and it s been freshly painted and it s all cleaned up and you re wondering, do they keep it nicely or are they covering up something? A good tip is to check in closets. Everybody forgets to fix the closets. If there is a problem, it will show up in here. This one happens to be cleaned, neat, painted, well-organized. So, that s not an issue in this case. Now let s go, do an inspection on the bathroom.
