Cathy Green: Hello! My name is Cathy Green, and I am the owner of UpperCrust Maids. Today, we are talking about how to professionally clean a home, and in this particular segment, we are going to talk about how to clean a dresser. Many people think that you just walk-in, no big deal, you just take a dresser and you just start wiping it off. Well, it's not quite that simple.

The first thing you need to do is determine which materials or products you'll need to use. There are several options. You can use a little dusting glove, or you can use a duster, or you can use a cloth. Here we have a solution of vinegar water. It's 50% water, 50% vinegar, it's very good on wood. I will tell you in a minute when you would use vinegar water.

Here, you have just some old fashioned polish. So the next thing I need to do is remove everything from this particular dresser. Once everything is removed, I can make a determination regarding what products I will need to use, and what materials in order to clean.

You really need to do a thorough inspection of the dresser. I always start with the top, you can do the old fashioned finger test, not on having a white glove, but it doesn't matter, my finger is very dusty. So we know for fact that we are going to have to dust the top at least of the dresser.

After that determination is made, you also want to inspect the little crevices. You may or may not be able to get the dust out, but you definitely want to try. In addition to that, you want to eyeball the front of the dresser to see whether or not there is any dirt on it, that can possibly come off. You also want to inspect it for dust and anything that can be removed. And that will help you in determining which products, and which equipments to use.

Based on my inspection, I have determined that the first thing I need to do, is dust the top of the dresser. So I am going to use my dusting glove. I am going to get all around the edges, and then just for that measure, I am going to go over again with my other dusting tool.

Again, you want to get all around the edges, and it's been thoroughly dusted. Now, just out of general principle, I am going to give it a very quick white down with my vinegar water solution, wipe off the top of the dresser. Let's give a real quick wipe. Make sure it's nice and clean, get around the edges, and now the top is clean.

I have determined that I like to just do a quick wipe down with a vinegar water solution, just out of general principle. Okay, it only takes a second, and now I am going to wipe the face which is pretty clean, it's not dusty. I also will clean the side of the dresser, which no one ever notices. But, as a professional cleaning company or if you would like to clean it professionally, you still should get it, even though no one will see it. Now you have a nice clean dresser.

The last thing you want to do is return all the items to the top of the shelf or dresser, at closely as it was initially. It's inappropriate to put a dusty book on a clean shelf or dresser. So I will just take a second, wipe the dust off the book, and then neatly put the book back where it was. Now, we will continue this process until everything is returned to its original place.

Okay. So now that our dresser has been appropriately cleaned, we are going to talk about how to professionally clean a toilet.
