Terry Dean: Hi! I am Terry Dean from Terry Deans Dance Studio. Were teaching the Foxtrot. Now, were going to talk about the posture and the dance hold.

Remember in posture that we always need to have a good upright body. In order to do that, we have to be able to isolate our rib cage from side-to-side and forward and back.

The most important thing is to keep your body lifted so that you dont drop your body as youre dancing and thats one of the most common things that we see in amateur dancing, theres not so much that they mess up their feet, but their top. So, if you could learn to hold yourself very up and that keeps your head up I think youll find that you have a really nice looking Foxtrot.

The main thing that were going to do when were in dance hold is that the lady will take her middle-finger and thumb and apply them right over top of the mans bicep, then her arm will fold as his hand goes on her shoulder blade, that will connect on the right-side and hold hands on the leftside, keep the elbows up. The lady will be slightly shaped her left, the mans right.

This posture will ensure a very good look and youll maintain this throughout your Foxtrot. So, then when youre dancing walk walk sidestep, walk walk sidestep, walk walk sidestep, you dont change your shape.

The main thing again in dance posture is to practice body isolations and practice keeping your arms up. One good exercise might be to keep your hands above your head and loosen them up because remember, gravity is going to make your body fall down, but if you get used to keeping your arms up at a proper level, itll be much easier.

So, its just like any other sport, you have to exercise the right muscles in order to attain the proper position.

The next thing were going to go through is the rise and fall.
