How to Start a Summer Job Search

com and today we're talking about how to get a great summer job. First off when you begin your job search, you are going to decide what you want to do, whether you want to work 9-5, whether you want to work indoors, whether you want to work outdoors.

You want to decide on what type of experience that you want to have in your summer job and does that experience also play back to what you want to do really in your real life.

The best way to find out which employers are hiring for the summers is to start online. Start at your job board, your local job board and start searching for the types of companies that are looking for summer help.

Another great way is to look at the places that you shop and that you eat. Retail establishments and restaurants establishments typically hire a lot of summer workers. So, be aware of that Help Wanted sign because those types of companies love to hire people who shop in their stores and eat in their restaurants.

These types of companies that are hiring summer workers, are typically trying to make sure they are coming for their full-time workers, so they'll not be going on vacation or they're giving up for the season like a tourist season or resort areas and so forth.

You can make yourself stand out to employers with several different ways. One, get rid of the obnoxious ringtones on your phones. When they call you back they don't get something that might scare them away. Also make sure you have a professional sounding email address. When you show up for an interview, you need to make sure that you're dressed in a professional way or you're dressed in what the job would entail.

For example, if you're going for a construction job or a landscaping job, you certainly don't want to come in the suit. However if you are going for an office job, you want to make sure that you're dressed in the office appropriate attire not as if you're going on a construction site.

Also make sure that your resume is up-to-date and has all your correct contact information, your correct email address and so forth because that's how the companies are going to contact you. When you show up for the interview, make sure that you're very friendly and outgoing with everybody you meet throughout the interview process.

And also after the interview make sure you get the person's name and contact information that you interview with, so you can follow up with a thank you note after the interview.
