Hi, I am Terry Dean from Terry Deans Dance Studio, were doing the tango. Now, were going to do the basic characteristics styling of the tango, which incorporates the staccato footwork. First, Im going to demonstrate. If you were normal to walk, you would just do walk, walk, walk, walk. In the tango, we want to get down in our knees a little bit more and were going kind of move off of our back foot to get a surging action. So, we go walk, walk, walk, walk and close, thats the what we call staccato footwork; walk, walk, walk, and close, as compared to walk, walk, walk, walk. So, again, staccato, of course the lady will be doing the same thing backwards, so we get down in the knees and we go walk, walk, walk and close, and again, down in the knees, walk, walk, walk, and close. So, the main thing about the characteristics styling of the tango is that its very dramatic and very forceful, so you dont want to look too benign, so that were just going walk, walk, walk side together. So, you have to get the whole character on, and you get down in you knees, and then you go T-A-N-G-O. Remember to charge that N, G ,O, so when you are doing the N, G, O, or the quick, quick, slow, you got to really charge it. Get down on your knees; T-A-N-G-O, T-A-N-G-O, T-A-N-G-O, very good. Thats your styling of tango, and it will go all the way through all of the steps that you learn, you maintain the same character throughout. The next were going to do is were going to do the promenade pattern.
